ASSIGNMENT 2 - In a land far far away

ASSIGNMENT 2: Postcards / Travel Poster
For this next assignment you will have to do a set a four postcards. These are front and back, full color, 5x7 full bleed cards. They will be held in a slip case that you will make to hold the set. You will also compose a travel poster to match the style of your cards. These will be hung in the hallway in the PAC. The cards will be handed in with the slip case. You have already begun your job folder with assignment two, gathering research and color pallets. For Tuesday next week please have 25 thumbnails done for each of the four cards. You may do a couple thumbs for the back but please concentrate on the front of the card for the thumbs. This is 100 total thumbs for four cards. These need to be finished and in your job folder for Tuesday. I would recommend getting started on roughs over the weekend as they will be due on Thursday the following week. Two roughs will be due for each front of the card. If you are getting started over the weekend on roughs...please go to this website. http://www.modernpostcard.com/products/postcard-5x7 Download the Illustrator version of the template and save to your art folder. You can use this template for the front and the back of the card to get postal code regulations. Again, the only thing that is firmly due for Tuesday next week is the thumbnails but a good start on the roughs is going to help you get some sleep. See you Tuesday.

Hey guys,

For Thursday, please go to a home improvement or paint store (even walmart) and collect 20 different paint sample cards. Other item that you need to have in hand for Thursday is 5 pages of research of 2 different locations (10 pages total). These locations could be as simple as a city, state, national park, a grouping of odd places in a state (look for "like" things if you are going to research a variety of locations). Ex. well known prisons in multiple states / lakes in state of minnesota / roadside attractions along route 66. When you a researching be sure to find out what there is to do in this place and look for color's impact on the feeling of the place.

VILLIAN'S ASSIGNMENT: This is due for Thursday. Please have an 11x17 full portrait illustration of your evil doer printed off and hung up in class at the start of class on Thursday. Don't forget when you hanging them up in class to use a spacer.

Timeline

Hi Guys,

For Tuesday, please have a timeline in a similar format to the ones shown displaying in pictograms the life something. Could be anything - have a little fun with it. Please format with a background plain color no pattern and text please use a similar font as ones seen centered on the 11x17 page. Please mimic the originals of these as close as you can to style as possible. Have this saved to your computer so that you can pull it up for display in class. Also please research three products for Tuesday's class. Have these pages (2 to 3 internet pages per product) printed out and ready to go in your job folder. This is the start of your first project.

Also for those that are interested...Think Tank deadline had been extended especially for all of you! You can sign up for dues on the national site...www.aiga.org / join us / student button. When it asks you for chapter use Union University Student Chapter or Memphis if asking for city. Then once you have your ID sign up for think tank on www.thinktanknashville.com under the student rate. The new deadline is Sept. 5th.

A CLARIFICATION OF ONE MORE THING - I just checked my calendar and I have a show reception booked for a gallery opening of my work up at Dyersburg State on Tuesday next week. So unfortunately we will be able to have class as the gallery reception is planned for 6 and I have an hour drive to get up there. WE WILL MEET ON THURSDAY, NO CLASS ON TUESDAY.
